Carlos Pabon

Studio Owner, Director, and Head Instructor

Carlos began his dancing career in ballet and jazz. He performed with several ballet companies and trained with the renowned Phila-Danco before moving into Ballroom and Latin dance. In the years that followed, he became a top Pro-Am teacher and competing professionally, earning many titles in the Rhythm and Latin categories. He began his teaching career with Arthur Murray in 1982 where he received the majority of his ballroom training.  He was the 1989 US Professional Rising Star Rhythm Champion and a US Professional Open Rhythm Finalist.  He later went on to compete International Latin and was the 1992 US Professional Rising Star Latin Champion and US Professional Open Latin Finalist.  With his partners he garnered numerous titles at competitions across the county in both Rhythm and Latin styles.  He was also a member of the American Dance Montage Ballroom Theater Company, choreographed by the late Frank Regan, which traveled around the US performing for various venues.

Also in 1992 he opened a Studio in the Baltimore Washington Metropolitan area called That’s Dancing Ballroom & Dancesport Center. Carlos operated a Fred Astaire franchise until 1996 when he decided to independently operate his business. Since then he has run a successful Ballroom & Latin Studio with focuses on both American and International Styles. His students range from social to competition level.  

 

Carlos holds his teaching Fellowship in all dance styles through the North American Dancesport Teachers Association.  He is a National Championship Judge with the NDCA and travels the country judging and coaching.  He also holds his Licentiate degree through the ISTD.  Carlos and his wife Marielle organize the NDCA sanctioned Northcoast in Cleveland, OH, held the 4th weekend in June.
